I had a great time shooting with Casey McFarland on this one - he's a great man. I had a sticky situation earlier this year and he was so quick to extend his hand of help and support; I have always admired him for being a great photographer and have come to appreciate him as a person even more.

Heather and Derrick picked what I think is a perfect song for their personalities; as you know, music is critical with videography. This Buble song perfectly fits with their fun and upbeat personality.

So.. I've been sitting here trying to find words to type. I think the world of Jonathan and Becca. Working with you guys has been a delight from day one ~ your words of kindness are so sincere and heartfelt, you make so many people feel like they are worth a million bucks. I just can't thank you two for being you.

Chris was narrowly escaped death when his Subaru was rear-ended by a semi truck on the way to the wedding; after I heard the news -- and knew that he was going to be OK-- I made some quick phone calls (and a few prayers) and we grabbed 2 old associate and they saved the video for today (thanks Nate and Dave - and thank goodness for pre-shoots, right?). And we're so glad you're well, Chris; I bet you're sore today!

Oh - and Jon and Becca -- I think you may win for 'cake of the year'. It was beautiful!

Classy classy classy. That is a perfect word to describe Edna and Jeff. I can't think of anything they didn't do to thank their friends and family - and even their vendors - on their wedding day. Selflessness ebbs from them as they are so quick to put others before themselves and so quick to laugh and enjoy every moment of every day.

We had an absolutely delightful time at the Sheraton; the staff is spectacular and the location is one of the greatest in San Diego. If anyone's looking for a great venue, I would HIGHLY recommend taking at look at the services, views, and, again, the staff an what's offered there - it's great and has quickly become one of my favorite places to shoot because of the aesthetics and people that are drawn there.

You'll see a few tender moments here; Edna's reaction to Jeff's first look at her; you'll see Enda walking down the aisle with her sweet father; you'll see some crazy randomness with their friends and family and their Guest Shoot. To top it off, they did a, shall we say, very 'non-traditional' first dance (you'll see the shot below); after all, any couple that plays, 'Walking on Sunshine' as they make their way from the altar has to be a blast, right?

Boyd and Natalie have four of the most beautiful children I've worked with. My wife commented that if the three girls were the same ages, they'd pass for twins - they look so much alike and they're all just gorgeous girls. Garrett plays basketball for the nationally ranked Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii, powered of course by Kimo the Gecko. :) They went to the sweet 16 this year and it was a great send-off for this senior. I don't know if you've read The Five Love Languages, but that book completely changed me and how I interact with people; both my wife and I swear by the principles taught therein. I am an Acts of Service person and absolutely feel loved and appreciated when people do small acts of kindness for me.

Why do I share this? People are usually kind in offering me a tip or thank you card or a token of appreciation; Amanda's family visited the Tongan islands a few years back and learned of our heritage and traditions and she gifted me a tapa cloth, a symbol of thanks among Tongans. I can't thank you enough for your kindness -- and especially the personal nature of your gift, Amanda. It means the world to me and now hangs in our upstairs hallway.

So... a wild and crazy day. My buddy and mentor Nathan came up on a whim this weekend and wanted to do a promo shoot with some fun brides; I called Chris to tag along and grab some video as well. My other buddy Casey suggested a cool location; we rounded up a few brides that wanted to go have a blast ~ you can't go wrong with 4 gals in dresses, right? Unless Nathan gets food poisoning, of course. What are the chances?

So Chris and I went and just had a ball with these four; thanks to Ashley, Jasee, Haleigh and Jessie for a rockin' time! I'll get you a copy of the images in a few weeks - thanks for a fun day!

Ahhh-- March. I think it's my favorite month of the year, in all honesty. Warmer weather, college basketball, Spring - it has it all without the stress and pressure of presents like other months.

Kimi and Pete are two of my favorite people - open and warm and absolutely gracious and kind. I have grown to love them over the years and this video is a favorite. I've always said that music will make or break any video and this song choice is absolutely perfect. Enjoy!

Not too many people can say they pinned on both a High School dance boutonniere and a wedding day boutonniere, but such is the story of Kevin and Natalie. They have been friends for what seems like forever and today brought them to the temple to make their friendship eternal.

For those not familiar with LDS sealings, the ceremony takes place inside the sacred temple and, after, the family and couple come out for some pictures and a celebration. I worked with Ashley and Clay from Timeline Films - and congrats to Clay - this town's most eligible bachelor is not longer available!

I had a great time with you guys, my friends. Thanks for a wonderful day and congrats on making it eternally official. :)

I love these guys. I've never had the chance to capture a couple that's blind before and it was a total delight. Their friends and family have been so complementary of the work I've done for them -- and Amanda is so kind with every conversation we've had. It was a bit of a learning experience for me because so many things I do are 'assumed' and I kinda had to learn a few new techniques in communication and not assume so many things in the process. It was a total blessing for me to get to know these two and work with them~

The team of second shooters and Chris, the MAN of videography, stands ready; they continue to hit home run after home runs with me and with our clients. The Wedding Guest Shoots have been a total rave in 2008 and I know we'll have a ball with more in '09.

Manu and Ashley Las Vegas Polynesian Celebration

Wow - what a beautiful day in Vegas! Manu and Ashley are classy -- start to finish, it was thank you after thank you after thank you to their friends and family and vendors; they make everyone feel like a million bucks. Classy is the best word to describe them. Those characteristics, coupled with Manu's playing college football and Ashley competing collegiately on the volleyball court and you have just a tremendous couple.

I shot with Ryan on this one - I love that man. We have a ball anytime we get to work together; he does tremendous work and he's a true professional. We did a little Guest Shoot following the small luau program presented by the little cousins (you'll see one of my favorite silhouette shots of their dance below).

We headed out to the East deserts from some great shooting; nothing beats a gorgeous couple in red rock country and blue sky. My wife has voted them (well, mainly Manu, sine he and I look very much alike) as the best looking couple of the season.

When my wife first met Tara, her first comment was, 'Wow, look at those eyes!' Yes, indeed, Tara has a pair of peepers that rival any other I've ever seen. Brian's a lucky man.

So how cool is this. They rented out a locally owned Pizza restaurant called Pizzeria Seven Twelve, a very modern and trendy place that draws big crowds nightly. I was amazed at the chef and workers; there were probably 200+ people that came and went all night long and they made pizza after pizza after pizza and it was all so good - you'll see a little shot I dedicate to them and their speed last night. Before the celebration, we did some shots around town and had a blast...

Maui beckons the Ivies in a few weeks - so until then, enjoy the preview!

I love the blue skies that California has this time of year - pretty dang lucky as I look at the rest of the country digging out of snow and ice and fog! I had a chance to work again with Brandon - we've had a few great shoots together the last few weeks. He's awesome.

A cold day with Marin and Paul

Meet the Suttons at 19degrees. :) It was a cooold day in Salt Lake City that greeted them and their families, but we had a ball on this (cold) shoot. I had a chance to work again with David Perry Films this weekend. Great man - tremendous company if you're looking for superb video.

Happy Holidays to everyone here--- it's been a good year from our family. These are some favorite moments from 2008; we really hope Izak comes out of his shell a bit and overcomes his shyness in 2009. :)

Dylan and Katie

Dylan and Katie are perfect together. Period. Their two families are tremendous and it seems that when two people come together from great families that they become a powerful couple. Such is the case with the Olsens.

For those not familiar with LDS (Mormon) weddings, the ceremony takes place inside sacred temples wherein photography is not permitted due to the sacred nature of the sealing. The couple and their family then emerges and we take pictures and celebrate. I've had a few people ask about first kiss shots and vows, etc., when I've posted other LDS events and this is the reason why those images aren't here. :)

We did some night shots as well, which I always love; the snow on the wedding day also made for some great shots. There is a slideshow with 45 images (gotta press the play button) and then below are 15 of my favorites. Enjoy the preview - and Happy Holidays.

The Ten Club

My sweet wife and her friends Lindsay and Leah started a little service club called the Ten Club. They were featured on KSL today and I am so happy for them! I think they sounded great, although it's weird to see my wife on TV. :)

Our Family - finally :)

So... it's been three years since we had family pictures taken, sadly. :) My buddy Nathan came up from San Diego to visit his mom who lives a few miles from here and he was stoked to spend some time with us and do a little shootin' (we couldn't let him come out and just relax, right?)

So, hands down, these are a few of my favorite spots near our home -- and of course a few of my favorite subjects as well.

Thanks a ton, Nathan. I had a great time with the editing and cropping and such--- great images to work with, my friend.

Total fun and laughter - not all families are as blessed with the happiness and unity that these guys feel with each other.

Fred just aired his little vignette about Izlas today -- kinda fun to hear about 'me' on the radio. He's a good man and has done little spots for various businesses for years; he said that he shies away from photography spots because there are just so many blasted photographers (lol) -- but he said that he'd never seen work quite like mine before, which, of course, made my day!

...and here's the wedding trailer for Bryan and May's sweet event. I've always said that pictures speak a thousand words and that video tells the rest of the story. Even if a professional isn't contracted to cover the event, it's so critical to have someone running film on arguably the biggest day of your life; scenes of JFK Jr's farewell to his father or even the moments on the old movie 'Ghost' or 'Family Man' where they're watching old family and wedding films always give me a subtle reminder of the priceless value of video.

Anyway - enjoy! You'll see the little childhood montage at the beginning and then the wedding highlights follow.

I told Jaime that each day, I stare into the brown eyes of my children and that seeing these green piercing eyes pop out of the shots was kind of a fun change (no offense to my kids, of course). :)

So... my wife frequents the Serendipity Salon every few weeks and when I told her that I was shooting Ursula's family, she said, "She's the BEST make-up artist I've ever known!" I guess your reputation preceeds you, Ursula! Oh - and take a look at their cute little daughter - wow. What a sweet one!
